What’s America All About?

posted July 18th by phil

Every day people come up at me on the street & ask “What happened to veryserious.org?”  What happened is that now I’m a husband and soon to be father, plus I’m employed full-time.  A wordpress blog is pretty old-fashioned nowadays anyways, maybe I’ll move it to tumblr.  The other big reason is that I didn’t know what to make it be about and no one else could give me a good answer.  Maybe I lack vision.  Anyways here is a question:

What’s America all about?

    i get first answer!

I’m fascinated by con men and get-rich-quick schemes. I love the idea that a guy can come from humble beginning and work all his life, then through hard work, thrift and a little luck he can save up and buy a big house and his next door neighbor is the guy who invented the iFart app.

With that in mind I say America is all about something for nothing & the pursuit of a quick buck. You think Horatio Alger lived the life he wrote about?

First of all, this new comment box is tiny and useless.

Second of all, what is more important, vision or motivation?

The people that hustle aren’t always visionaries, they are motivated individuals who don’t let the idea nor the reality of failure dissuade them from their goals.

As the rap songs say, they keep their grind on till they die. Be this by working twenty hours a day, inventing new things until something breaks out or making art until they achieve some semblance of recognition.

To further quote rap artists, who i believe have it quite right, America is all about playing the game.

The beauty of America, though, is you have the option of playing the game smarter or harder than anyone else to elevate your position to the level you desire.

    TAKE THE MONEY AND RUN
