It was my turn to choose topics so I decided that we’d talk about spirit animals, animal-human hybrids, animal-animal hybrids, guides through the spirit world, King Tut’s D in a jar, my dad’s music career, the ancient Egyptian practice of putting earring on Crocodiles and bringing them to parties, sexy cat girls with and without tails, the Muppets, Prince Rupert’s dog, Tigra, Manimal, Beastmaster, James Earl Jones’ character from Conan the Barbarian, Sobek, Horus & Felicia. We discuss some other things also but you’ll have to listen to find out what they are. If you listen but don’t comment, you’re in the doghouse.
I took the quality down a bit to get the file smaller, let me know how it sounds.

So, even though I have been commenting and reading Very Serious since I met Phil (two Christmases ago), I have always considered myself too busy or too cool for listening to a podcast . It’s not like I imagined it being like bad talk radio; I knew it would be remotely interesting. However, I don’t even get to listen to NPR segments anymore, or funny podcasts from my favorite comedians.
Well, I got to work early today and wanted something in the background while I started digging into my workload, and finally gave Very Serious Conversation a listen. I snickered like a 12 year old boy when Jake said “That’s disgusting” (re window sill ejaculation). And, I did (actually) choke on my coffee when Phil started calling Jake “Gargamel” and then talking about his magic ostrich familiar.
Perfect start to a humpday.
Thanks guys. xxT

I agreed with what Phil said about the evil reputation of the snake and wonder how much of this is based on snakes’ personality, and how much is based on Genesis.
For the record, when I googled Friendly Snake, this is the first thing that appears>http://www.fugly.com/media/IMAGES/Priceless/friendly-snake.jpg

Sadly we didn’t get into otherkin or furries or anything like that too much. It seems like a big oversight in retrospect but I think we covered it in one of the AVSC classic episodes.
I cut out some discussion of Bova the cowheaded midwife from the comics because she’s one of the most overdiscussed subjects in AVSC.
I think furries are misunderstood cause it’s thought of as a sexual thing but in reality they just like being in fur costumes. It’d actually be less disturbing if it was just a sex fetish and not a way of living your life. It’s like we automatically sexualize deviant behavior because we assume that deviant=sexual. This kid has an opinion on it also:

What we need most of all to make these podcasts work is ideas for shows. Who should we interview? What do you want us to talk about? Let us know or else we’ll just talk about Bova forever.

I liked the silliness quotient of this podcast. It was, I think, better than the last one. Jake’s ‘make-her-love-you’ list kind of hurt my feelings, truth be told. I am glad for the rebirth of the ‘blast.
Also, you missed my favorite topic – Pomo Bear Doctors. Very magical, and I am told that my great-great-granny was one for a time.
