Old Spice’s ads have been going for it for a few years now, I liked the Bruce Campbell ones they did a few years back. This one is ahead of everything else. Imagine how many takes it took to get him to say this with a straight face. They still make Old Spice though, who’s buying it? Who wants a musk odor as they go about their day?

When I lived in Santa Cruz in the mid-90s I used Old Spice deodorant. I frequently purchased it at the Woolworth’s that used to be on Pacific Ave. Once, this happened there:
JAKE waits while COUNTERPERSON, a heavyset middle-aged African-American woman, rings up his purchases. As COUNTERPERSON runs Old Spice deodorant through the bar code reader, she looks at it with surprise.
COUNTERPERSON: Old Spice?!?
She looks JAKE up and down, incredulous.
COUNTERPERSON: You don’t know nothin’ ’bout no Old Spice!

Woolworth’s was an amazing store.
Also, this reminded me of this article: http://jezebel.com/5474945/sexy–and-hes-on-a-horse-the-guy-from-the-old-spice-commercial
There’s a making-of video!

Now all the ads on the left are for Old Spice products.
I love Old Spice. My grandpa used the “original”, so it always smells warm and comforting to me. My boyfriend uses some version of it…some sort of “breeze”. It doesn’t smell breeze, but he does always smell nice.

@Beth: I’ve never been sure what she meant.
@heypal: I think she might’ve been right, too.

My ex used to use Arctic Breeze or Mountain Rush or something. It was lovely!!!
That commercial might be the best thing I have seen all year. Can that please win more awards than avatar?

I can’t wear Old Spice. It smells too strongly. Also, there are a ton of ads over here:

Haha Oh man i just like how they all end with the guy being on ahorse. Though I’m sorry I don’t want the person I’m with to smell like my dad its too Shakespearian for me. But that just be my weird glitch. Though one of my girlfriends does and still does from time to time use old spice her boyfriend loves it.

i used to use old spice when i was picking up on the ladies half my age. for the main reason that- when we hugged, they thought of their dad, as @april mentioned.

This commercial is awesome! I love it! I love the smell of old spice and have often complemented a dude on his cologne to only be told “oh, it’s my old spice deodorant” It is nice to hug old spice guys though my dad never used it maybe my grandpa did? My dad uses sandalwood which I can take or leave- it’s a bit too patchouli for me and it’s kind of annoying that my baby smells like that when he babysits him but I ‘spose he could smell like worse things. I prefer my men to smell like old spice, bay rum or tres flores.

You must log in to comment. I tried it the other way and had to erase 1,000 ads for viagra and mortgages one by one. Register here, it takes less than ten seconds.
