My friend J. Mann just sent me this. He’s going to set up a page full of pictures. I told him he could just use veryserious but he wants his own, what should he call it?
On a related note, what do you all think of the movie Trading Places?
My favorite scene is the one where Louis reaches his nadir and dons a Santa suit.

I find Trading Places quite entertaining, especially the part where Jamie Lee Curtis pops her top.

I’ve totally never seen it. I’ve not seen MOST movies people tend to see. I’m working on it this year. Should I put Trading Places on the list?

@c-lo yes def.
@phil the exact nadir is in that scene when he is plucking the Santa beard out of the stolen cured salmon and tells the lady “wrouaaaabhhhgghhh”
@Jake I think just the idea that JLC is a prossy is,um, “interesting”

C Lo, Trading places is like a John Landis 80′s version of a Frank Capra movie. It holds up better than most any comedy from that era does.
Joe, Yeah the video I linked to has that part in it. That part on the bus is the part of the movie I think about most.
People always lament the decline of Eddie Murphy but Dan Ackroyd’s later career is just as sad.

Yeah with akroid the line between playing the straight man and being the straight man got too blurry.

I definitely recommend seeing it. One reason amongst many is the fact that you’ll finally understand that one scene from Coming to America.

You’ll also understand how futures trading works.

With respect to Dan Aykroyd: I think that I might have posted something about this in the past, but have you seen his pitch for Crystal Head Vodka?
It is difficult for me to tell if he is really into it or if he is just lending his “straight man act” to this situation, but in reality finds it asinine and is just laughing all the way to the bank. (Although…it’s likely that he wouldn’t have very many Crystal-Head-earnings to put into his checking once he got there.)

Now that I’ve seen this movie (finally) I concur – the best part is the salmon/Santa beard on the bus part. Pure comedic gold!
