No, only some. PB’s have been bred for aggression and mistreated and they’re usually strong which is a bad combo.

The only time I was ever really attacked by a dog that wanted to kill me it was some kind of black lab/wolf monster. I’ve known a lot of safe pit bulls.

No. . Small dogs bite way more people every year. Asian breeds are the most people aggressive by far. Pit Bulls are dangerious in the same way a parked car. Someone could get in the drivers seat and run over you but they also generally don’t.

Pit bulls are bred to be aggressive toward dogs and passive toward people. In the years kana was a vet tech, the most fucked up she got was by a jack russel terrier: http://bit.ly/d5bBGc

My bro Luke has been attacked twice by pit bulls. I have know a few very sweet and loving pit bulls. That is to say, what Phil said is true, but they are also fiercely protective of their owners AND extremely territorial.

@ Joe I have heard them described as Jerk Russell Terrorist

    @Jon ¡HAW!

Hell yes , ask a cat or a yorkie if pitbulls are dangerous, oh wait there all dead. Some pitbulls are like armed “roided out” Navy Seals, who just caught their wifes cheating, and others are just like armed, “Roided out” , Navy Seals sleeping on your couch.

@PeteG I haven’t know pits to be more territorial or protective and other dogs.

I am completely biased, as I’m a pit owner. I also spent a few years volunteering with rescue and animal shelters. The most troublesome dogs I ever saw were all wolf type breeds, German Shepherds, and high strung types like border collies. Any dog will be bad if not socialized properly. I’ve never know pits to be more aggressive than any other dog. I think that have a bad rap and it is perpetuated by classism and racism. I also think people don’t really know what a pit bull is……..there are so many mixes out there that get lumped in as “pit”" when they are often not at all.

@ c lo , I agree , poor people should not have pets

I’m not rich enough to have a pet apparently. My landlord refuses to let us get a dog. I should just get a dog anyway and say that we had a baby but the baby has some defects and then take the dog to and from the apartment in a baby carriage like this:

I think the meanest dogs are beagles, they’re small though so it’s not threatening.

@cody Yeah, but totally cute armed roided out navy seals.

  • 12 jake // Feb 9, 2010 at 11:47 am

Aren’t all armed ‘roided-out Navy SEALs totally cute?

  • 13 Joe // Feb 9, 2010 at 11:50 am

I would put them more in the “sexually attractive” category.

I would like to say they aren’t but I’ve been bit by one and it was the scariest thing to happen to were animals were concerned. I how ever give the dog the benefit of the doubt because I had an empty food container in my purse and it bit me trying to get to the food smell.

I feel badly about the bad reputation that pit bulls get.
I have not read anything anyone else wrote, sorry if this is a repeat of something said earlier.

I don’t think all pit bulls are aggressive or mean. There’s a lot of factors that go into it, much like how a child turns out.

I had the worse luck with dalimations growing up though. There was one near our bus stop and I was so scared of it.

@ Phil I wanna see you do it!

If I was a rapper I’d deff have a pit bull. I don’t think they are mean by nature, I think they are just made to turn out like it. I have a friend who has a “rag doll” cat and you can take that cat and pretty much put it in a baby carriage and blankie and sing carols to it. It’s just the way that specific cat is brought up to be. I think pits are kinda the same in that sense.

The worst bite I ever got from an animal was a horse. Those m’effers will fuck you up.

  • 19 MissBella // Feb 9, 2010 at 3:17 pm

@c lo whoaaa! bitten by a horse! how did that happen?

  • 20 panasonicyouth // Feb 9, 2010 at 4:17 pm

This is my favorite breed of dog. One day, I will live in a house with 30 pitbulls and it will be a constant party.

I’m gonna grow up and be like those old cat ladies but with a house full of pitbulls.

OK, so I’m biased, I just got 28 stitches in the face from a pitbull just a few weeks ago. It was really scary to be attacked in the face for literally no reason (I bent down to pet it, like I would any dog), and I can tell you that I won’t be able to really ever see/treat pitbulls the same way.

The breed is abused, and misunderstood. Nonetheless, the fact of the matter is that you are more likely to have some damage done by a pitbull because of their enormous jaws and their muscular bodies, AND, I don’t know that this is a FACT, but, they are known to be skittish and are known to have sudden fits of aggression. Nature vs. Nurture… ? I spend a lot of time around dogs lately as I take our dog to the dog park everyday, and the notion that each breed has its own traits is undeniable (to me). Pit bulls ARE generally more aggressive in play and otherwise from what I’ve seen.

I think pitbulls deserve love and I think it should be a crime to do things like pin/trim their ears. Also I think that if you raise them to be aggressive (you can’t deny a lot of people do, I see it ALL the time, especially in the pot growing parts of the world), you should be liable for whatever damage they inflict.

It’s sad though because rescuing these dogs can a big ordeal. With any breed of dog, the abuse suffered as puppies will tend to haunt them for a long time without proper retraining. And proper retraining is something most people wouldn’t have time for.

I don’t think all pitbulls are bad, at all. I think it comes down to the dog owner… if you are a creep your dog is probably a creep too.

Every pit bull I’ve met has been super sweet and well behaved. Almost every chihuahua I’ve ever met has been a little ball of hate with teeth.

  • 23 c lo // Feb 10, 2010 at 12:57 pm

@missbella I grew up with horses, and one time when I was 11, I turned around and one was pissed at me, I guess, and she bit me kind of on the hip above my butt. Horses are ornery.
