  So far I have done really well. My NY resolutions were way more specific than usual so I can’t fuck off on them. If I don’t save money and visit Germany this year then that will be my most pathetic broken resolution but so far I’m doing okay.

  My most pathetic was definitely last year. I made the fully pathetic, and rider-laden, resolution not to drink on consecutive week-nights. Under my rules Sunday night didn’t count and neither did Friday night. So I wasn’t exactly demanding a lot from myself.

  2 weeks later I got a cold and drank hot toddies on like wed and thursday nights…

  I don’t make any usually and especially of late so I have nothing.

  This year I have two long-term goals of which I’ve broken neither in the past 5 days.

  I think I broke the “No Gin in ’06″ rule a few times…other than that, my resolutions are usually within reach and I keep them.

  I think to really be a pathetic breakage it has to be both a fairly easy and be broken early in the year. Joe your example is the gold standard. I’ve said on Jan 1st that I’d never drink again if they just let me live and then as soon as they came over on Jan 3rd it was the same old shit tonight but those weren’t new years resolutions, just hangover talk.

  @phil, yeah beth’s would have to have been like “no Vov in the month of May this year”, and then like on may 5th if she went to a zabaglione party…

  I am one of those annoyingly driven people who makes resolutions and sticks to it… whether it be the infamous “No shots in 0-7″ or my secret resolution of playing guitar and singing at an open mic last year (completed Dec 28th 2008), I get them done.
  This year, I’m simply going to resolve to be loved and appreciated (in work, friendship, romance, anywhere) and to have earned it.
