There is one reason I love the holiday.  The food and drinks, wait, maybe that’s two.  Eggnog is one of those things that as soon as it’s in stores I drink it pretty much every day so I get even more excited when the coffee stores start carrying Eggnog lattes.  Nothing makes Monday a little brighter for me like caffiene and eggnog.  Up until this year, I’d only have had the Starbucks Eggnog Lattes which is just ok.  It sort of tastes like eggnog and it’s got coffee but there’s a sad part to this store.  Starbucks refuses to make me an iced Eggnog latte.  I don’t know why since they say doing so will make the eggnog curdle and thereby be crappy.  I really hate hot drinks in general so this is the rain on my holiday drink parade. And really, I think there’s a logic fail going on there but I don’t make the rules.

Enter Peet’s Coffee & Tea.   I was headed somewhere this weekend where there was a Peet’s nearby so I made sure to stop in for their non burnt tasting coffee and was delighted to find they make an Eggnog latte as well.  So I asked if they could make it iced and was very excited to learn that indeed, they had mastered the skills that Starbucks apparently can’t figure out.  Now usually, Peet’s lattes for me are very rich and strong and I can never make it through a full large drink.  The Eggnog latte is indeed thick, rich and eggnog-y and full of deliciousness that it’s like heaven in my mouth.  I can’t believe since finding Peet’s a few years ago I never made a point of getting a holiday flavored drink there.  I have missed out on drink so many wonderful eggnog lattes there that it’s actually kind of sad.  Before deciding to review the drink, I went on another trip there today to make sure it was just as great as I remembered and yes, it was.  So Peet’s Coffee & Tea Eggnog Latte gets a because it’s a perfect balance of eggnog and coffee and it comes in iced.  Starbucks gets a very sad because of their general burnt taste and lack of iced Eggnog latte.  I’m actually a little relieved that there isn’t a Peet’s Coffee closer to my commute to/from work as I’d be fat and broke from drinking these every day but once a week isn’t too bad either.
