It’s the thought that counts.

ICON A5Every year Neiman Marcus releases their Christmas book, full of ideas for everyone on your list. They have a section called “fantasy gifts” for those who have nothing better to do with their money during our economic crisis. One of the items in this years book is the ICON A5 sports aircraft. Here are it’s features.

1) An amphibious hull and landing gear to take off and land just as easily on water as on land. 2) The ability to run on automotive gasoline or aviation fuel. 3) A sexy, streamlined two-seat interior with intuitive controls, including 4) FAA-approved flight instrumentation and 5) a state-of-the-art GPS system, so you don’t get lost. 6) A range of 345 land miles or 300 nautical miles. 7) A next-generation lightweight carbon fiber frame. 8) Spy-movie wings that rotate up and fold back out of the way. 9) Removable side windows to dangle your arms out into the wind and sun. 10) A custom, high-tech trailer for fast and easy loading and unloading from land or water.

You can buy this gift for a mere $250,000! The price tag includes flying lessons for two. You can view the catalog here, in case you are interested in a cupcake car, or want to spend $200,000 to have dinner with today’s brightest minds in journalism, literature and the arts. You can also buy a chandelier made of recycled water bottles for only $12,000. It may seem a bit pricey, but how can you put a price on saving mother earth?!

$250k is cheap for an actual airplane. What’s the range for it?

Why is the picture a computer rendering? Does it not actually exist yet?

I think they finish production on it in 2011 or something. If you go to the Neiman Marcus site it has more info on it.

@Phil: I don’t think so. Nice try, though.

Phil, if there’s one you’ve taught me, it’s that there’s no such things as rights in this world. Or is it wrongs? I can’t remember…
