Dexter

dexter_bigI know that I am way late on this one, but I recently started watching Dexter. My cable company is currently offering the first three seasons of Dexter on demand and I am fully taking advantage of it. After years of hearing about how great this show is, I finally decided to give it a chance and started on the first season. I was instantly hooked. I watched all 12 episodes in about 3 weeks, and then moved on to season 2. I had the house to myself for an entire weekend recently and spent the entire weekend watching season 2. Twelve hours of Dexter might seem like a lot to spread over only three days, but I was so drawn in by the story line, I couldn’t help myself. I am currently on Season 3, about 4 episodes in. Season 3 hasn’t been as exciting as the first two so far, but I keep hearing it picks up. Even though it appears to have a slow start, season 3 is still quite interesting and is still more exciting than your average show. I will be all caught up by the time season 4 rolls around this September.

Dexter is a serial killer who also happens to work for the Miami Police Department. He is a blood splatter expert who otherwise seems to have a normal life. He has a loving girlfriend, and helps her care for her two children. He also has a sister who is a cop for the same police department. His adoptive father, Harry, was a police officer and when Dexter was a child, soon learned of his murderous tendencies. In order to keep Dexter alive, Harry started training his son and teaching him “the code”. With his police experience, Harry taught Dexter from a young age how not to get caught for killing people, and also to make sure to only kill people who deserve to be killed. As soon as he was a young adult, Dexter satisfied his urges to kill, by only targeting murderers who seemed to escape the criminal justice system.

The show is very thrilling, and I have become completely obsessed with it in a short time. Everyone I know who watches this show feels the same way, and I have yet to hear of any complaints. If you are squeamish about blood and guts, you might want to avoid watching it. Dexter gets ★★★★★

It’s alright. The actress that plays his sister is pretty annoying…and distractingly hungry looking. I guess I hoped for more. We are very much preferring Mad Men right about now.

I should probably see this show one day. Maybe there will be a marathon on soon.

Dude I love Mad Men so much. I usually pour a bourbon on the rocks and pretend to smoke a palmal (because i quit smoking) I also wish there was a secretary in my living room walking by with a beehive. Madison Ave. is so not as cool today as in was in the early 60′s.

@dav. This may seem dorky, but you can “MadMen” yourself here. It did when I had some time to kill (see my avatar?) It was pretty fun.
