I came across this dilemma a few weeks ago at Baker Beach with friends.
Is it okay to pee in the ocean? When you’re at the beach do you trek to the public restroom or just go in the water?

I don’t remember the last time I went swimming in the ocean, but I’d like to think I would go out and find a restroom. I know whales and fish go doody in there, but they live there so its ok.
On a somewhat related note, my cousin used our pool for her kids pool party, and the next day the water was noticably green. It’s kind of upsetting.

It’s ok to pee in the ocean but I don’t really know why you chose to do so the other day when the water was freezing and the bathroom was equidistant to where we were sitting as the ocean was.

Sure, why not? The ocean has bigger things to worry about than your pee. Go for it. Then you are at least being more environmentally friendly by avoiding the paper in the restroom and the water used to flush it. Though, in our lovely waters in SF, you need to be prepared to sacrifice your bits to the arctic waters…

“if peeing in your pants is cool, i must be miles davis”
i extrapolate to peeing in my wetsuit, which is the only way to stay warm in our cold cold pacific.

The ocean is full of fish urine already so yes of course do it. By the way, I recently found out that there are no commercially available pool additives that will turn a different color when a kid pees in the pool. That’s just something that your parents tell you when you’re a kid to make you act right, like Santa Claus.

Ocean is definitely pee friendly. I think the question would be more interesting if you subsituted “shower” for “ocean”
