This experience at work has led me to have a related question.
I understand you all drink filtered tap water because you are all pragmatic Americans, but if you were to drink bottled water, what brand do you think tastes the best?

It is a ridiculous scam. I want astrology to go away forever. I have a hard time respecting people who believe in astrology or even listening to them talk about it for more than a few sentences. I can’t believe that there are people who are “experts” in the field of astrology.
The worst is when otherwise intelligent people will all of a sudden start telling me about sun signs or how since I’m a Libra it explains why I don’t like astrology. Gah!

I’ll read it for fun when I come across them in magazine, but I don’t believe in them. I think they’re silly.

I believe in astrology more than I believe in a great space god who cares about me and what happens in my life or that we are anything other than a self-sustaining chemical reaction. But then that is damning with faint praise…
… Also my mom went to an astrologer/psychic when I was a baby who ran my full chart, gave her like a 50 page document fully of graphs and whirllygigs, and explained that I had starved myself to death in some sort of protest in a past life. That I /do/ believe.

I think its really just an ‘amusement.’ A lass, with whom I used to work, got her horoscope emailed everyday, and often it coincided with crazy stuff our boss said, or lame people who came in our work on a given day. It just made working in a cubicle somewhat more amusing… though if we had heavier martini-lunches, I’m sure I would have dug the job even more.
I have far more coincidental things happen in my everyday life than anyone’s ever predicted for me. I think you can be good at that stuff if you can read people and listen to your gut instinct.

Maybe Phil hasn’t heard what percentage of the human body is made up of water and how the moon affects bodies of water(literally!) before.

Come on, guys… you don’t believe that the movement of planets and stars some thousands or millions of light years away have some sort of bearing on what kind of person you are and what will happen to you?
I mean, my horoscope for today was soooo right!:
“You will communicate with someone special today. This evening, something interesting will happen.”
Oh, wait. That one was really true, but it was actually one for a different sign. Here’s the right one (and oh my god it’s soooo true):
“Today’s planetary line-up points towards developments for you. Being very active during the daytime may cause exhaustion later.”

When I took astronomy at Sac State my professor told me astrology is fake because the “signs” which you are assigned by what day you were born were created when people didn’t even have telescopes, and they eventually ended up missing one because it’s barely visible. So in fact, there are 13 astrological “signs”.

I believe in taking responsibility for my day, the things around me and owning my actions.
But, if reading a horoscope will make my day more fun because it tells me that I will get a raise or an extra egg roll at lunch – sweet!
If my horoscope is crummy, with an outcome that I dislike – then I can just chalk it up to it being total b.s.
Unsolicited Bonus Answer!: I was the “Horoscope Editor” for my Jr. High newspaper in 8th grade. I got to make up whatever gibberish I saw fit to publish. Every month Cancer’s horoscope was glorious.
Guess which sign I am.
