Question #343 Real-Life Superhero

posted July 29th by jake

As Phil noted in the recent AVS Conversation: Batman Talk comments, Christopher Nolan used Teddy Roosevelt as inspiration for Bruce Wayne’s character when he wrote Batman Begins. The comparison fits: each man is the son of a wealthy philanthropist father (whom the son idolized); each experienced tragedies involving two close family members dying on the same day, a psychological trauma to which they reacted by retreating to the edge of civilization (where only the strongest of both body and mind can survive); both men returned to civilization to become famous (or notorious) for fighting crime with uncommon zealous fervor.

Today’s question:

Of the people you know, who is the most like a superhero?

If you can compare them to a specific superhero, feel free.

if you don't share this (on facebook) or it will get boring

My friend Smith is because he always does things like help an old lady across the street and then he’ll do some feat of physical strength and skill. I think he is most like Zorro although I’m not sure that counts as a superhero.

I think Smith is a pretty good call.

My friend Bryan Quinn is like a superhero in many ways as well. He is very talented, but has a dark side which prevents him from achieving his true potential. He could be part of X-men as the really smart and talented musician guy who gets laid all the time but never appreciates his luck.

I think a lot of my friends are a bit like super heroes. Tiffany & Samantha are probably the most hero-like, though.

Rob Dyer of Skate4Cancer. A few videos:

Maybe Rob and Smith should go skating some time.

I can’t think of anyone and its making me sad. Smith did escort me to the bathroom once, and it was an emergency, but I guess that isn’t enough for me to jump on the Smith bandwagon.

@Beth. Thanks for the kudos. Sam and I are good calls. I’m not sure if I was nominated for my surviving-accident-skills or my devastating good looks, but thanks!
I’d say myself, also, because I do have some strange reflexes that make me do things like leap onto the hood of a car before it runs me over. ..and for the attributes noted above, obviously.
However, if I could compare Beth to a superhero, she’d be Jem. She has this “Jerrica” side to her> all office-like and proper, but then after work she wears funky jewelry, sings into fake microphones and is in general truly truly truly outrageous.:)
