NYC Holiday Tumbleweeds

posted January 17th by greg

Every January and NYC curbs become the destination of the dead hopes and dreams of the holiday season. In my neighborhood, they are starting a tradition of taking old xmas trees and having a ceremonial wood chipping party in the park. The chips will apparently be used for mulch.

Here in SF they take them all out to the beach and have a bonfire. Usually SF is more ecological than NYC but I guess not in this case.

I don’t think that bonfire is an official city-sponsored thing. But I could be wrong.

Its a bunch of fun-lovin hippies that collect them, dry them out and burn them on earth day (I think thats when it was). At least they seemed like fun-lovin hippies. Given the amazing pyrotechnics performed by these ghosts of christmas past, they could just really like big fire.

You must log in to comment. I tried it the other way and had to erase 1,000 ads for viagra and mortgages one by one. Register here, it takes less than ten seconds.
