Felix Lorioux was a children’s book illustrator from France. His work really holds up, here is a pic of his illustration from the fable about the fox and the crow. I like the crow’s outfit. There are more scans at ASIFA.

i looked up the story. the lesson to be learned:
do not trust flatterers.
